Tremendous pressure by the whole team - well done boys!

Windy wet day did not put our boys off. Great sportsmanship from four players who volunteered to help Old Brentwood and take turns to play for the opposition, well done to Sam Kelleher, Jobo Petherick, George Parker and Charlie Sims for being such good sports.

The game was incredibly close and both teams showed great mauling in the early minutes of the game. The game progressed with some great passing, but both teams had to watch out for that very slippery ball! Great reffing saw the game kept going and advantage being played. Finally the ball came out from some immense mauling from Burnham to a speedy runner on the wing who caught the ball safely from a fabulous offload and charged towards the try line to score, this was after almost 15 minutes of the game, which showed how close it was. Both teams continued to battle on with some great skill and quick ball coming out from the breakdowns, the ball finally found the incredibly fast winger who was just encouraged into touch before he scored. However Burnham realising the speed they had outside, managed to get the ball out through the forwards and back to the winger and with fancy foot work he managed to sprint for the try line to score a brilliant try.

The second half saw a few Burnham players struggling with the conditions and Old Brentwood capitalised on this and ran in an easy try. However with some the players fired right up Burnham tried to get back into the game, sadly the scrums were not going Burnham's way today and Old Brentwood managed to win a scrum and find their centre (Burnham player!) who charged through Burnham's defence, but Burnham were not deterred and tried to hold him up over the line, however with his sheer strength and determination he managed to score!

A great game with some superb off loading and catching the high ball from kicks, well done Burnham we are extremely proud of your performance today.

Player of the Match - Ratty Diss for being a terrier at scrum half and battling through a knock.
