Burnham U12's hosted Canvey Island in a return fixture from the start of the season. On paper this should have been a close game, with Canvey having edged the game last time round. Burnham with 15 players available, fielding a strong team, and with many players now focusing on playing their preferred position the benefits of a settled side are starting to become evident.
Burnham came out of the blocks very quickly. The team under instruction to pull together a team performance were giving Canvey no space, and with the continual pressure they were being forced back by sheer determination of the Burnham side. It wasn't long before Burnham created the gap to cross over for the first try.
That said Canvey were dogged in their determination, and had better discipline in counter-rucking and in the scrums. They should be credited for their spirit and certainly contributed their part in the game.
Burnham though were relentless, loose balls, tackling and attacking play were the hallmark of a good performance, and it resulted in 10 tries being scored.
Good overall performance, but certainly some work to be done with the team in key areas.
