On a beautiful sunny day, Burnham travelled to Braintree for a hard festival. With teams from Upminster, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Braintree participating, it was clear that the team was up against some pretty serious opposition.
Burnham kicked-off against Braintree, and the hosts were in confident mood having supposedly not lost all season, and they thought they could squeeze a win against Burnham, setting themselves up to win on home soil. Burnham had other ideas, and this quickly turned into a competitive battle, Burnham edging the encounter 3-2. Home crowd stunned!!!!!!!!
Burnham then were up against Bury St Edmunds. Having seen this team play, we knew that they would provide very tough opposition. Well disciplined, organised and some very useful players. Burnham went out there and tore into them. They were absolutely relentless, and mauled a good 4-2 win. The Bury coach afterwards said that this was the most physical side they had come up against.
Game three was against Ipswich YMCA, and we knew that they were probably the weaker side. Burnham rested a few players, bjut it didn't seem to make much difference. Burnham 7, Ipswich YMCA 0
And so it came down to the final game. Burnham, unbeaten versus Upmister. We knew this would be a tough game, However, Upminster couldn't win the tournament having lost and drawn a game. Burnham seemed to have exhausted themselves, and there were a number of forced errors. Upminster eventually winning 5-2.
Overall a brilliant performance from the 17 lads who turned up to represent their club
