BURNHAM'S BUZZARDS AND EAGLES TAKE ON MIGHTY MALDON AND HADLEIGH

Under 10s proudly took two teams plus subs to their first match of the season. We played a triangle fixture with Hadleigh and Maldon.

In our first match Burnham came out of the blocks on fire. They were awake, alert and ready for the new Under 10s laws. As a result of some excellent quick passing they steamed up the pitch creating space and running on to the ball. Maldon were extremely effective tacklers and managed to stop our faster players, but Burnham were straight back in over and over again. Maldon managed to get the first points over from a great passage of play, but Burnham were not afraid to form the rucks and mauls and therefore make good ground and the scores were even. The game continue with some rolling mauls and Burnham kept that ball coming out down the line to ensure that more tries could be scored. A fantastic display of rugby. Final score Maldon 5 Burnham 6.

Our matches then continued still with positive rucks and mauls. All three teams managed to rip the ball from their opposition and get the ball out to their wingers to score some superb tries. Due to their being so many squads on each team there were a few games. Burnham started to tire when two players went off injured and Maldon deservedly ran out the final winners showing their strength. Well done to all the players that played from each Club, a great morning of rugby. Our thoughts are with Henry Shepard who suffered a broken nose - get well soon Henry. Well done to Drew today who played his first ever match, great work Drew. Special words to our players of the week, Shaun Salway and Lewis Gillett, they never stopped working the whole time they played, great team work guys.
