Burnham U11's continue their winning streak!

Another close game, but Burnham triumph
With the weather taking an autumnal feel, Burnham U11's faced Basildon at home. With nearly all the squad present, there was enough opportunity to rotate the players throughout the games to allow them to enhance what they had been practising.
The result of the first game was close with the team's answering each other tries in turn. Burnham tries were scored from running in open play, with good support when breaking through Basildon's defensive line and releasing the ball quickly down the line. This set up Miller to cross for the first try. A change of tactics to using a maul in the second half showed the team as being able to mix up play too. Although Banks and Courts both scored tries, Burnham just ran out of time to match the four tries of Basildon. First game ends Basildon 4, Burnham 3
The second game saw Burnham score first, using the full width of the pitch for Banks to run and score in the corner. Both reams contested the ball well, with several turnovers from the ball being keenly ripped or won against possession in the ruck. Scoring was again see-saw but Burnham got their noses ahead late on, with tries from Banks and Courts, and they managed to reverse the result of the first match with a 5-3 win.
Overall result Burnham 8, Basildon 7
At the end of the match the Green Laces (Player of the Match) were awarded to Clarke, who had shown great spirit in both matches and particularly when leading by example and all but scoring at a key point in the second match.
