The Warriors visited Billericay on a lovely sunny morning, perfect for an open game of rugby and a squad full of positivity after some hard work was put on the training pitch earlier on in the week.
Having played our opponents many times over the years we knew it would be an evenly fought contest and so it turned out to be with both sides competing well at the tackle area and both using the new kicking element well to try to pin back their opposition.
The Dragons & Nighthawks were mixed into todays match squad and there was a need and a desire from some to raise their game, they had admittingly underperformed in their last game regarding tackle technique and work rate. Well what a turn around, from not tackling at all to using great technique and a willingness to dominate the ball carrier, this was so pleasing to see especially after the work put in at training.
We had players lifting their game and players returning to the squad who all put in maximum effort today and played for each other which was brilliant to see, we even had Regan scoring his first ever try!
So with both sides competing against each other in all areas of the pitch it was always going to be a hard fought match and that it was with both sides scoring both some lovely team and individual scores, well done to both teams for playing some entertaining rugby and scoring 5 tries each.
Well done to Wills & Harry, our players of the day - Wills communicated well between forwards and backs with good ball distribution and some excellent tackling. Harry, ball in hand is a danger but his pace when running on to a pitch long clearance kick, his pick up and strength to score was for us try of the match!
Try scorers this week Alfie, Regan, Bear & Harry
