The U10s drew quite a crowd today as the home fixture against Billericay coincided with the visit of various friends and family members of the players. This clearly inspired them as they turned in yet another brilliant performance that reflected just how far they have come this season. As they enter the final fixtures of the season, this group is clearly hitting its stride at exactly the right time.
The U10s produced a powerful and disciplined defensive display from the outset, absorbing pressure before launching counter attacks with their now familiar attacking flair. This young team continues to grow in confidence and understanding, and their ability to work together and adapt to opposition tactics is becoming increasingly impressive. There is a real sense that the players trust one another and enjoy playing as a unit, which is showing more clearly with every match. The pace, commitment and teamwork impressed the many visiting spectators who left as enthusiastic supporters of Burnham Rugby’s mighty U10s.
Like their new fans, Katherine and Dan were impressed by what they saw today and picked out Harry as their Player of the Match. Harry is one of the team’s most dominant ball carriers and when he sets off with the ball and a glint in his eye, there are very few players capable of stopping him. Fiercely competitive and protective of his teammates, he thrives on the challenge of breaking through opposition defences.
On top of Harry’s carrying, his awareness and decision making stood out throughout the game. His ability to draw defenders and recognise the space opening up around him created several opportunities for teammates, and his perfectly timed offloads allowed others to run in with confidence. It was a performance full of strength and teamwork and a thoroughly deserved Player of the Match display.
Brilliant work Harry. Great work U10s!
