The U11 Warriors took to Southend to attend the annual Southend festival with a strong squad of players all eager to carry on the great work they have been doing in recent weeks.
The early rain soon cleared and the rest of the day was played in perfect conditions, the team was ready and there was a really positive feeling, the Munch Bunch were switched on and focused from the start and till the very end.
The Warriors played 4 games in total, taking on Upminster, Westcliff, Brentwood and Rochford with all games being played in great spirit both on and off the field - with the ever present and vocal supporters doing their bit to cheer on the Warriors and also during break times feed them ...and the coaches!
The entire squad stepped up today and although started slowly soon built up the intensity that has proven to be one of their best assets, at times they were swarming their opposition putting them constantly on the back foot.
Big ball carries, superb rucking and some almighty tackling was on show today and the effort put in by everyone was superb especially as we had discussed this previously, everyone working hard for each other and not letting others do all the work.
From pitch side it was evident that most of the tries scored against us were due to either our handling errors and maybe 1 or 2 missed tackles so still a few bits to work on but our scores were a mixture of solid rugby with some brilliant individual skill.....oh and a swan dive!
As I mentioned previously, today the entire squad stepped up and all put in 100% effort, however Alfie took player of the day who I'd say had his best performance in a Burnham shirt and bearing in mind his standards are the highest anyway, I think you can gather how well he performed today.
Tries were scored today by Alfie, Ivy, Toby & Hugo
Well done to all the Munch Bunch today and a massive thank you to all the parents and supported today, you were awesome.
Thanks also to Southend for hosting another successful and enjoyable festival
