U11 Warriors V's Southend

This Sunday the U11 Munch Bunch travelled to our friends at Southend on a chilly but perfect morning for some running rugby. Missing a few players but still taking a large squad, it would interesting to see how they would perform.
What transpired on the pitch was absolutely amazing - total rugby!
The team set about their work early on, putting the Southend team under constant pressure with a solid defensive line that seemed to suffocate their opponents causing panic amongst them. The Warriors were fast to capitalise on any loose ball and attack at pace and in supporting numbers, time and again they played open and attacking rugby, running some brilliant lines off of Toby at flyhalf who marshalled the backline throughout the game.
What was also pleasing to see was the movement from set piece and the attacking drills that have recently been implemented being used to devastating effect with Thomas and Sebastian time and again making huge ground, followed up by some excellent break down work and good clean recycled ball.
Ball carries were performed perfectly by the team, especially Cass, Louis, Regan, Amelia & Tilly who would make ground and then look to set up another faze of attack with their support players being there to secure the ball. Our Scrums were solid with Hugo taking a few of the opponents scrums "against the head" and with the returning pace of Harry & Shane they were quick to get the ball as wide as possible as early as they could to attack the gaps in Southend's defence.
Southend certainly didn't let the Warriors have it their own way, competing hard at the breakdown area, strong tackling and some jinking runs led to a few scores against, had it not been for some determined tracking back by Harvey, Harrison and Sebastian then Southend would of most certainly scored more then they did but the mindset of the warriors is to never give up.
This was a brilliant performance by the entire squad, everyone playing their part on the day but the player of the match award went to Harrison who had a magnificent game with countless devastating runs, tackles, tries and overall contribution and is forming quite the partnership with Toby at flyhalf.
Tries were scored by Harrison, Sebastian, Cass, Bear, Toby, Regan, Shane, Thomas & Louis
Well done to all that took part, amazing squad and as always amazing support.
See you pitch side
