U11's V Basildon

U11's V Basildon

Kevin Prior13 Apr - 08:21

A Good Day at the Office

Burnham's U11 warriors travelled to Basildon after a little break from competitive matches, so on a sunny morning in prefect conditions they came out of the blocks on full throttle.
From the very first whistle they looked to attack with some outstanding rugby, both team and individual tries where brilliant and with everyone being focused and switched on this was the theme throughout.
Indeed the only time Basildon did threatened the line they were powered back by some excellent try line defence work that overturned the ball and ended in a try line to try line score for the warriors.
The good thing from a coaches perspective was that the basics were done to a high standard, breakdown secured and the ball spun out down the backline either through the hands or with a backline move being implemented.
After a couple of quarters of commanding rugby it was decided to mix up both the teams to ensure the enjoyment factor remained for our hosts, this is after all what rugby is about at this age group... well done this those that showed great TREDS by offering to wear a Basildon shirt.
This talented collective of players has a bright future of rugby in front of them, especially if they continue to improve as they have done season after season, when they play as a team they are real force to be reckoned with.
Well done to Thomas for being awarded player of the day, a bruising ball carrier and breakdown buster but is also starting to add some soft handling to his game.
Tries scored this week by Sebastian, Alfie, Harrison, Toby, Ivy, Thomas, Cass, Regan, Harry, Hugo & Wills
Next week we travel to Chelmsford in our final game of the season and will also be the last time our girls are able to play as part of our squad, so will be an emotional morning all round.
