U11's Vs SWF

Kevin Prior12 Jan - 08:11

We Go Again

The U11's welcomed in the new year with a local derby at home against SWF, having trained only twice over the break (some not at all), it was always going to be a case of running off the rustiness and Christmas puddings.... or so we thought!
The warriors had great numbers for our first game back, unfortunately our opposition again had a lack of players so we did the obvious thing, and up stepped some of our own to bolster the SWF ranks.
The game began and the warriors were on instant attack, pinning SWF in their own half with some strong ball carrying and dominate breakdown work and snuffling out any potential SWF attacks with some excellent first up tackles.
Changes were made throughout the quarters and those taking the field all doing their part in continuing the pressure on SWF, forcing the opposition back time and again, with the pressure mounting mistakes were creeping in for SWF and heads were dropping, so a fresh set of legs were sent across to assist the SWF side to enable a fair and competitive contest to continue.
As the match went on it was becoming evident those that had lacked the little bit of time we have had on the training field, some poor tackle technique and lack of positive mindset at the breakdown coupled with some wild and wayward passing enabled SWF to start to take the game to the warriors and the Burnham try line was beginning to leak a few scores against. The last quarter showed some great character by SWF and had the warriors in trouble throughout giving a great account for themselves and never giving up.
So the Warriors finished the game with yet another positive result, some great stuff on show at times, however lots to work on at training and with what looks to be the test of the season on Sunday away to Thurrock a real focus is required if they are to keep their perfect positive record this season.

A huge well done and thank you to the warriors who stepped up and wore the SWF jersey, Jude,Cass,Harry,Shane,Toby,Thomas and Bear.... fantastic TREDS!!!!!

A welcome to the field for todays player of the day, Huxley who has been out due to injury but training hard for a while and put in a great shift today as did the ever hard running Thomas who again returned from injury.

Tries were scored by Alfie,Toby,Thomas,Bear,Harrison & Thomas

This coming Sunday, Thurrock away - See you pitch side, this should be a belter of a game!
