Today we were on home soil at BOC against Maldon. It was agreed that we would play in thirds at 20mins each. The weather was on our side after a soggy morning with the sun making an appearance.
We had a very slow start with Maldon dominating the pitch, taking control of the ball and winning the rucks and for the first time in several weeks we were not showing a united front as in previous matches. It seemed as if the fight had gone which allowed Maldon to take advantage and the lead.
We did show moments of brilliance but not as a team and were lacking in support for the player with the ball and not committing to tackles. This only allowed Maldon to gain ground and keep scoring.
But all was not lost and we did score some tries and in the final third we started working together, meeting them at the line and stopped them making ground.
At the final whistle the score was 34-40 to Maldon. So, not a big loss but an opportunity to remember some basics and give 100% at all times.
MOTM was award to George O by our captain Jake for his fantastic runs and try scores.
