Today we played Rochford in sunny (but chilly) SWF. The team started off really strong and made a try with in the first few minutes. At the end of the first quarter we were level at 14 a piece. However, we started to fall flat and were missing tackles and not putting in the effort and started watching players making individual tackles and runs.
More grit and aggression was required to push forward as a team, and in the third quarter they certainly upped their game. Rucking was better, they started passing to more players, offloading and making tries.
Nevertheless, the final quarter fell a little short and Rochford soon picked up on our game play and we weren't trying different forms of attack to break their defence. Therefore, the final score was 31-43 to Rochford.
Going forward we need to change and adapt, trying different things. Remember, there are no bad decisions only better ones. We may have made some mistakes today, but we work on them and come back better and stronger next week!
This weeks MOTM was awarded to Theo. He took on some big players, slowing them in their tracks and went in for several tackles - Well done!
Training this week is on Tuesday & Thursday at SWF from 18.30.
Sunday match - Away at Old Brentwood, meet at 10am for 11am KO.
