As the curtain came down on a fantastic season, the U9s gathered for one last training session – and what a way to end it. Joined by special guest trainer Becky, the team got a first taste of what lies ahead next year. With a session focused on rucking, mauling, and scrummaging, it was a sneak preview of the next chapter – and this group looked more than ready.
This team has gone from strength to strength all season long. Week after week, we’ve seen dazzling individual brilliance and incredible team spirit – and today was no exception. The way every player threw themselves into the new drills with Becky showed just how far they’ve come, and just how much potential still lies ahead.
Choosing a Player of the Week in this team is always near impossible. Thankfully for Katherine, the decision this time fell to Becky – and she didn’t hesitate in awarding the honour to Henry. His passion for the game is never in doubt, and today he stood out again. He embraced the new challenges, picked up the skills quickly, and led by example with energy and effort. At the tail-end of a long season, to see such enthusiasm and fitness is remarkable. Well done, Henry – we’re all proud of you!
This group has truly become a unit – tight-knit, supportive, and fiercely enthusiastic. Their commitment to learning how to tackle earlier this year amazed everyone, and if they continue to grow together, next season could be even more special.
As awards afternoon approaches, spare a thought for Katherine – she’s got the impossible job of picking winners from a group where every single player has shone. Over the course of the season, they’ve all had their moments in the spotlight, lifted the trophies, and made us proud time and again.
The awards aren’t just about individual honours – they’re a celebration of the whole squad: the players who’ve given their all, the coaches who’ve guided them tirelessly, and the parents who’ve supported every step of the journey.
Here’s to a fantastic finish to a fantastic season – and the promise of even more to come.
Bring on the awards, and bring on next season!
