Movember moustaches prove no distraction

Burnham u8's played an away fixture this Sunday against Westcliff and Stanford at the Westcliff hosts. This weeks squad consisted of Charlie Corbett, Owen Gillett, Daisy Murray, Connor Moss, Carter Shears, Rhys Szuszkiewicz and Josie Witmore. The first game against Westcliff 'A' was a very fast two way battle but with Burnham slightly slower to get going the host team took the advantage. There was very fast play from end to end of the pitch with several turnover balls given due to the high tagging ratio but the final score was a win for the hosts of 4:7 with Gillett, Moss, Shears and Szuszkiewicz all getting one a piece.

The second game was against Westcliff 'B', again a very fast two way flow along the pitch with Daisy Murray opening the scoring for Burnham followed by Shears, Szuszkiewicz (2) and Corbett with the final score being a 5:5 draw. All the players were eager to push forward in attack with Corbett being particularly sharp in defence play.

The final match was against the other visiting side of Stanford by which point all the players werre beginning to feel the damp and cold. The team rallied though, showing great team spirit, helping each other other out with fantastic support play to one another. Rhys managed to make the most of opportunities presented by putting down six tries with Moss and Corbett also getting one a piece, with the final score being 8:4 to Burnham.

Player of the week was awarded to Charlie Corbett for his consistent defensive play
