Burnham v Colchester

We had 12 players and Colchester had 13 so we split each team into two and played two games at the same time on different pitches.

The first game on the training pitch, Colchester started and played well passing after a number of quick passes and a few tags by our players they scored a well deserved try. We had the ball and came forward in to a very strong defence it was only after a couple of quick tags from Cholchester and passing the ball wide that we managed to even up the score line. This patten happened a through the game with the final score 8:8 a draw.

The game on our main pitch ended in a 8:6 win to Burnham.

The Burnham teams swapped pitches so that they could play the other Colchester teams. Colchester as visitors started again this time imediately finding a whole in the defensive line and scoring, Burnham came back on the counter attack and scored. The first half was very much a close contest with Burnham making some lovely passes and had hoklding Colchester at bay by taking few tags slowing the attack but each time Colchester brook though forward pass on the Burnham side gave a turnover ball to Colchester. At the end of the first half Cholchester finished the two up. The second half was much the same storey with another forward pass and a knock on allowing Colchester to extend their lead. Great Rugby on both sides saw the most enjoyable game and Burnham really playing as a team. It also game us a few things to work on positioning and running onto the ball. Well done both teams, Colchester 8 Burnham 3.

The team on the main pitch won 8:7.

Unfortunately I did not see the final game this was made up of those players who where not to tried and I understand was a great game. The final game was a draw.

Burnham player of the day was TT Courts for learning to run straight which helped him scored a few tries.
