Burnham U8's in a thriller with Braintree

Burnham travelled away to Braintree,speaking to the Braintree coach we agreed that we would work on the kids passing skills so had to pass the ball 3 times before scoring a try. This helped with teamwork and their skills.

We played 4 matches,the 1st match took Burnham a little time to get used to the 3 passes before scoring a try. There was some great individual running to score try's although not with passing the ball 3 times. Once Burnham got the hang of it they pulled it back for the match to end 5 all.

In the 2nd match both teams were getting used to passing the ball 3 times but the defense on both sides was matching the skills with a closer game of 4-5 to Braintree.

In the 3rd match with the kids in their stride with some beautiful running lines shown by both sides and much higher scoring game with Braintree winning 7-8.

In the 4th match with the kids being a bit tired but all up for one last game some amazing tackling shown in this game , and a late little flurry of trys at the end giving a draw of 5-5.

This week was one of the hardest weeks to choose awards as all players gave 100% and played some of the best rugby they have played this season. The coaches team could not be more proud of them all!

We awarded TREDS this week to Archie Larkin for showing real-sportsmanship. He was always trying to make sure that the ball was passed 3 times in the game so we could score a try.

Xander Taylor got skill of the week for some amazing tags and a lovely run he did during the match.

Kieran Jones got player of the week for some amazing footwork, running skills and the ability to see a gap.
