Ongar

The under 7's where on the road again this week travelling to Ongar for the second match of the season. We traveled with 7 players so Ongar kindly lent us a player Elizabeth who again was welcomed into the side. The team was split with TT, Hutch, Nathan and Kieran as Burnham 1 and Joe, Paddy, Oliver and Elizabeth as Burnham 2. Both teams started brightly in fast and furious games. Lots of tagging and try scoring on both teams with Hutch making the score board for the first time. Unfortunately Burnham 1 lost 9-8 but Burnham 2 won 8-9. In the second game both teams came out fighting and thanks to a lot of tun over balls Burnham 2 won 5-11 with some great end to end action by both Paddy and Joe. Burnham 1 won their match 10-12 with a sold defensive line called by Nathan and some superb tagging by Kieran. The teams came together for the last game and played 6 a side on a larger pitch, this was a close called contest which Burnham narrowly lost 9-8. All of the team played their best all day but a superb effort of both tagging and try scoring by Paddy in the last game earned him man of the match. Now for a couple of weeks of training focusing on what we have learnt in the games before our first home match against Rochford on 2nd November.
