The under 7s went to Bancroft Rugby ground today to play in the Essex
festival of Rugby against 35 other teams. We entered two teams of 6, the
current under 7's and next years team who have already turned 6.
Back row: Joseph Banks, Patrick Smyth, Oliver Bennett, Keiran Harris,
Nathan Flynn, George Hutcheon
Front row: Louis Martin, Thomas Courts, George Hall, Rory Martin, Alisha
Hull, James Martin
The first game to be played was by team Y the younger players and they
walked onto the pitch against Chingford who stood six inches taller than
our biggest player! The game started and the opposition came out of the
blocks with a quick try. We then got the ball and with some great team
work scored. The game then went to and fro with each team scoring,
Chingford fast while we played with great support and movement on the
ball. Just before the end of the first half we managed to turnover the
ball and pull one ahead. Starting the second half we were first to score
and this put us two in the lead. Final score 7:5 to Burnham.
It was time for the second team to play their first game which was against
Thurrock, again a big side. It was a very tight game which was neck and
neck with Thurrock starting the game and each time they scored so did we.
Unfortunately we lost this game by one try but it was the only game that
team O lost. They went on to come second in the group and Thurrock went
on to win the group and the semi final.
Both teams played three more games each winning three and losing three so
over the day we played eight games won four and lost four.
