The team travelled to Barking only to find that Barking did not have a team. Thankfully Hackney RUFC had their teams there to have a game.
With Hackney only having 5 players but Burnham having 8, a 5 a side game was agreed. The games started off evenly on both sides with Hackney showing some very strong running lines and avoiding being Tagged but Burnham matched this with their own skilful running. Burnham then settled down knowing that the tagging was stopping the Hackney team from scoring.
The first game ended up with a win for Burnham of 12 - 7 although the score didn't reflect the game. It seemed much closer during the game.
The second game was similar to the first. Burnham's great tagging skills helping to keep Hackneys score down but the final result was 15-12 to Burnham. A much tighter game in which the referee (Burnham's coach - me) being fairly strict on some of the rules. Both teams being prevented from running off the pitch with the ball being turned over each time.
Every Burnham player again scored tries this week but yet agin the tagging won the game for Burnham. Even though it was a very tough choice as all players played very well against a team that didn't always show the best TREDS, this weeks player of the week was Daniel. A player that is very quiet on the pitch but just seems to get on with the game.
