As the rain lashed down on a blustery Millfields, the BoC under 9’s squad entertained Ongar. With quick rolling substitutions and two fast paced games the teams hardly noticed the appalling weather. In the first of two games played in a cagey affair ensued. Both Burnham and Ongar defended solidly with only the occasional interruption from the referee. A fair result of 10 -10 ended a close fought contest with Thomas Dawson and Harry Jarchow scoring for Burnham in similar lone running trys. After a speedy turn around the second match began in a frenzy. Strong tackles from both side helped open the game up for Burnham and as the ball was spilled several times the home team capitalised with trys from Dawson, Jack Beale and Jarchow all before half time. As the second half began at 3-1 a well-supported Ongar side were cheered on. Burnham turned the screw with super tackles from, Cook, Hailstone, Sims, Petherick and Braybrook. A further 4 try’s from Jarchow, Kelleher and 2 more from Dawson sealed the win with scores settled at 35-5 to Burnham. Burnham Squad: Joe Petherick, Jack Beale, Josh, Cerys Cook, Harvey Barker, Thomas Dawson, Harry Jarchow, Hayden Churchill, Charlie Sims, William Braybrook, Sam Kelleher, Bailey Hailstone, Arthur Diss Special mention after the match went to Cook and Beale for their tackling perfomances but player of the week was awarded to a well-deserved William Braybrook
