On a cold soggy wet day we played away to Colchester, always a good team. as we had 12 players and Colchester 14 in the B team, we split our teams into two so that all the players could play at the same time and no one gets cold standing on the side line being a substitute. then after the first game we would switch round and play the other team we could play the we would with round and play the other team.
Hugh's team In the first game Burnham came out strong despite the miserable weather but great tackling from Colchester saw them power ahead 4-2 at halftime. After a morale boosting pow-wow from the coaches Burnham came back with great turnovers and tackling from Joe,Thomas and Paddy to win 6-5.
In the 2nd game all the boys from both sides were switched on and played some of the best rugby of the season so far. Super passing and turnovers saw the final score 9-2 to burnham. Great play from colchester. Top try scorer Paddy and the man of the match was Thomas Griffin for great play and turnovers.
Andy's Team,
The first game Colchester was close in the first half and the players all played well as the cold took its toll the players started to flag in the second half allowing Colchester a decisive win. In the second game we lost a played and had to borrow a player form the Hugh's team. The start of the second half was a bit scruffy allowing Colchester to score a few tries with Ball handling errors and Colchester being more disciplined. the second half was a different matter with Oliver Bennett stepping up tot he Mark and make some try saving tackles then scoring a try if his own. We then managed to play the ball out wide on the wing a few times to Brandon Clark who dogged the opposition and scored two further tries. Colchester won the second game.
The game ended retreating to the club house for some food after two wins and two losses a good day for the rugby even in the cold and wet.
