Under 9's under estimated

Under nine’s under estimated,

The under 9‘s played away at Braintree today at the Essex festival, an age grade rugby tournament where we paly a five different teams the teams played where.

Westcliff
Southend
Billericay
Rochford
Woodham

The first Game was against Westcliff and not sure if it was because it was the first game of the day but when we walked on to the pitch every Westcliff player stood taller than all but one of our players, they where fast, strong and agile and unfortunately to strong for us as they managed to score a couple of tries after break though our defence final score 5:1 Westcliff win.

The next game went better for us trying out new tactics, passing the ball better, so much so that one of the Senior Essex officials enjoyed the way we played adopted us as his team for the game and made a point to come back and watch another one of our games later in the day. The rest of the games where mainly close games but we managed to pull through winning all four.

Finishing the day losing one game and winning four. We have two team members played really together Thomas Griffin who was awarded player of the day for scoring seven tries and Riley Stubbings for assisting. A special mention needs to go to Patrick Smyth for literally putting his body on the line to stop a tires ending up with a black eye scrapped chin and stub marks on his back.
