Match Report, 27 November 2016

Today we went over and played against Maldon we had a team of 10 and Maldon 30 which they split into 3 teams.

After a quick training session we played our first game of three.

As visitors we where allowed to start and we squared off against our opponents and they where about the same size as our team. Both teams played extremely well and and the defences held as each team battled for a try. The game was so close that the final score was Maldon 1 Burnham 0. great game all round.

After the first game the the team where a little tired but ready to take on their opponents, this time the opposition where much bigger than us. This took its toll told as the Maldon defence was almost unbreakable and on the few times that we managed to breakthrough the speed of Maldon’s defensive back line kept us at bay and on many occasions forcing us into touch turning over the ball. Maldon’s offensive line was a just as fast and on the occasions that they broke though managed to score. The final score was Maldon 5 Burnham 1. The Burnham try was scored by Thomas Courts

The final game was was just as good as the first two games with us being the smaller side again. This time with Paddy being back on the pitch our defence was stronger, Maldon only managed to put one past us. With Paddy Power in the attack, following drives by George Cook and Riley Stubbings passing the ball out wide to Brandon Clarke, who liked with Paddy (Patrick Smith) to score our first try of the game. This was followed just before the end of the game by Thomas Courts scoring his second try of the day. Finally after a last ditch tackle into touch the final whistle was blown. Final score Maldon 1 Burnham 2.

A great day of rugby for our team with a few players in new positions. Player of the day went to Joe Banks for sportsmanship as awarded by the referee.
