Rugby is the winner

In our last game of the season which should have been training the mini's where ask to go and play at Canvey in an exhibition triangle against Canvey and Basildon. The games where referred by the England RFU co-ordinators.

The fixture was set to allow each team to play four games Canvey, Basildon, Canvey and finally Basildon.

We had a small side of eight players on the day as it was a bank holiday weekend and a few players where away.

Our first game saw us play some of the best rugby that we have played all season holding a very strong defence keeping Canvey at bay time after time and keeping a clean sheet. Our attack was a complete team effort with Hutch taking the ball into a tackle turning and flipping the ball to Kieran on the right, who advanced five meters before a great pass to TT who moved forward another five metres before passing the ball out to Paddy on the wing who finished the play by scoring a try.

Our left wing was just as focused and not wanting to be beaten would have Riley or Cookie take the ball into a tackle passing out to Joe who would pass to Ollie on the wing again scoring each time they passed to ball out wide. Try of this game goes to Riley for breaking though and running the full length or the pitch.

The second game was against Basildon who where ready for a tough game having just watched us and just warmed up against Canvey in their first game of the day. They had a very few fast runners which stretched our wings and allowed Canvey a few good tries. However our defence stood firm most of the time and giving us a number of turn over balls. Our attack was still strong with the teams joining together time after time to pass the ball out wide or back into the centre to find a whole in Basildon's defensive line.

the third game saw a rematch against Canvey who after playing a few time managed to breakthrough and score against us which saw our opponents elated and made us regroup and strengthen our defensive line.

Final game against Basildon saw our opponents a little tired after just playing Canvey, still a good game but we managed a better attack due to stronger legs.

Burnham Try Scorers, Paddy, Riley, Ollie, Joe , TT, Kieran and Hutch. All players managed try saving tackles and played as a Greta team.
man of the matched went to George Hutcheon as chosen by the players and parents for great tackling throughout the day scoring his first try this season. A special mention to Cookie for powering through and tackling like a demon.

A final well done to all the players for a great day of rugby a day when everything clicked for our players. high hopes for next season for our players who where undefeated on the day. Quote of the day some of the best Rugby of this age group I have seen. a parent.
