What a battle there was today. the game started well with Burnham pushing hard in the Braintree half but Braintree soon stole the ball in a maul and whizzed up the field leaving Burnham players scattered around them for their first try. Captain Gillett fired his team up with Vice captain supporting him and Burnham were not going to be put off. The game was hard and there was a lot of knock on's due to the wind so there were an enormous amount of scrums. Both scrum halves battled for the ball and worked hard to get it out to their backs with Braintree finding theirs again for another couple of tries. Another scrum happened and Burnham's scrum half had a great ball fed to him from his second row and managed to find his No 10 who sped forwards to the try line putting the first points on the board. First half was 5-15
Second half the boys came out fired and looking ready to take on the might Braintree. There was a few issues in rucks and mauls but Burnham dealt with it well and yet again the no 10 found space to put more points on the board. Braintree soon came back with a few run away tries again leaving Burnham a little stunned. However, Burnham with FIVE replacements carried on with constantly changing players they kept their team work up and the forwards found their winger who charged up the pitch to pop the ball out to the No 10 again who scored a hatrick!
The boys should be really proud of their work rate today and sportsmanship. The coaches and captain were incredibly pleased with how they played today and they reacted to changing situations. Well done
