Great visit from Old Brentwood today. Well done Joey T for Players Player!

Great run out today unfortunately Burnham were unable to field a complete team and were severely down on numbers, but Old Brentwood were extremely gracious and lent us several players so the match was Burnham and Old B v Old B. It was incredibly tight for the first 10 minutes then the full Old Brentwood team got through and sniffed out the try line. Burnham refused to give up and kept the pressure on, Old Brentwood showed a small amount of poor discipline and gave away a lot of penalties but unfortunately Burnham could not turn any of these into points as Old B just kept smothering us in the tackles and the ball could not find our wingers quickly enough. However we still kept up and with some great linking play from the forwards and backs the No 10 made a superb pass out which found its way to the centres and then to the winger who really put the pressure on but again Old B got to us and scuppered the scoring opportunity!

Unfortunately we had players injured so more Old B's came to our aid and the game continued well with some great tries from the opposition. Although Burnham were not to be deterred with tries being held up and some try saving tackles being made. Old Brentwood attacked the space and hit the wing each time to go over for a few tries. Burnham came back fighting and the no 10 received a great ball and ran hard and fast forwards to put our first points on the board. We came back quick again and scored another great try too. Old Brentwood kept the attacking pressure on us and came back, but gave away yet another penalty which we took quickly and then our centre put in a great cross field kick to our winger who sped onto the ball and sprinted up the pitch, unfortunately to be called back for offside, gutted but it showed very clever play and great thinking.

The coaches were proud that they did not give up and look forward to working on their hunger for the ball in rucks!
